Handpiece Maintenance
High speed Handpieces
1) clean visible debris off handpiece with damp lint free cloth (No Cavicide or harsh disinfectants)
2) Clean chuck by placing a drop of lubricant on an inter-proximal brush (size tight) remove debris from the chuck. (1- 2 times a week)
3) AFTER EVERY USE Lubricate the Handpiece with a synthetic lubricant (1-2 Sprays). Ensure you are using an aerosol can with the appropriate adapter (see below).
4) Run Handpiece on dental unit for 20 seconds to flush out all lubricant.
Note : Steps 3 & 4 can be completed on maintenance machine.
5) Wipe excess lubricant from Handpiece bag and sterilize.
Low speed Handpieces
1) clean visible debris off handpiece with damp lint free cloth (No Cavicide or harsh disinfectants)
2) Put 1-2 drops of lubricant on the points shown below.
3) Run handpiece for 1 minute on dental unit
Note : If the Low speed handpiece is over lubricated residual lubricant can dry an harden inside the handpiece resulting in loss of RPM or premature failure.
4) Wipe excess lubricant from Handpiece bag and sterilize.
Electric Handpieces
1) clean visible debris off handpiece with damp lint free cloth (No Cavicide or harsh disinfectants)
Note : It is recommended to use a maintenance machine for steps 2 & 3
3) AFTER EVERY USE : if a maintenance machine is not available Lubricate the Handpiece with a synthetic lubricant (1 Spray). Ensure you are using an aerosol can with the appropriate adapter (see below).
4) Run Handpiece on dental unit for 1 minute to flush out all lubricant.
5) Wipe excess lubricant from Handpiece bag and sterilize.
